Busa Eco Essentials will be donating 2% of every sale to the turtle sanctuary,
Fundación Verdiazul, in sunny Costa Rica!

Our current special cause is sea turtle conservation efforts. Turtles are frequently innocent bystanders to plastic wastes in our oceans and we felt this was a great first place to start in our journey to support special causes.

Fundación Verdiazul is a sea turtle hatchery located on the beautiful beach of Playa Junquillal on the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica. At this location, Leatherback, Olive Ridley, Pacific Green (aka Black), and Hawksbills sea turtles lay their eggs - they account for 4 of the world’s 7 species of sea turtle. All these species are endangered or critically endangered. This conservation project originally started in collaboration with WWF from 2005 to 2010. Since 2010, the project is still running independently through Fundación Verdiazul.

The volunteers of this conservation effort patrol area beaches nightly to search for signs of turtles. When nests are found, they are relocated to the hatchery for constant supervision until they hatch. Volunteer responsibilities also include cleaning of beaches, data recording, care for nesting areas, hatchery monitoring, environmental education and turtle release. The efforts of organizers and volunteers of this program are key to assisting in maintaining and increasing the areas - and world's - turtle populations.
